![]() ![]() Members of Harmony include: 1st sopranos – Mary Dawson, Heather Durbin, Jane Hopper, & Kaylen Tucker 2nd sopranos – Janelle Cornell, Kathy Kircher, & Susan Suggs 1st altos – Deb LeVault & Jane McMillen 2nd alto – Donna Royer & Cindy Stock accompanist – Judy Foxall and director – Deb Jelley. But their signature 3 and 4 part harmony sound is always their goal. Members come and go – new members are added, older members retire. Harmony has been singing together for more than 15 years. There will also be an appearance of some of the cast members from Taylorville High School doing a selection from their recent production of Annie. In addition, there will be an opportunity for an audience sing-along to songs from The Sound of Music. Some of the selections featured are from musicals such as: “I Feel Pretty” West Side Story, “I Dreamed of Dream” Les Miserables, “If Ever I Would Leave You” Camelot, “Memory” Cats, and “You’ll Be Back” Hamilton, “Dancing Queen” Mama Mia!, “I Could Have Danced All Night” My Fair Lady, “You’re the One That I Want” Grease, “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” Jesus Christ Superstar, “Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In” Hair, and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” Carousel. How do you select just a few show tunes from the thousands available? It wasn’t an easy task, but an enjoyable and mostly familiar lineup was created. The most difficult part of planning this program was choosing songs. More than half of their music will be sung to pre-recorded instrumental tapes which will add an entirely new dimension to the program. The concert will be done in usual Harmony style with staging, costumes, and a few dance moves, plus some surprises. It is their hope that this will appeal to their followers and some new listeners, as well. They decided a change was needed and chose to try a concert of Broadway show tunes. But to prepare for a holiday concert means they practice Christmas music year-round. This group of 13 women is known for their Christmas concerts and they enjoy preparing and singing Christmas music. This time they are planning a “Broadway Ladies” concert scheduled for Friday, August 11 at 7 pm and Saturday, August 12 at 4 pm in the First Presbyterian Church, 116 E Franklin in Taylorville.
